Ισοπροπυλική αλκοόλη IPA 99,9% Zeus Paints σε συσκευασία 4 λίτρων
Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is a fast-evaporating cleaning solvent suitable for a wide range of professional and technical applications. It is used when effective cleaning, degreasing, and removal of contaminants are required, without leaving oily or sticky residues on the surface.

Zeus Paints IPA is a high-purity product (≥99.9%), with very low water content and minimal non-volatile residues. This makes it suitable for applications where surface cleanliness and consistency are critical.

IPA can be diluted with water depending on the application, the surface to be used on and the required cleaning grade.

Where it is used

Isopropyl Alcohol is used in a wide range of applications, including:

  • cleaning and degreasing surfaces
  • surface preparation before bonding, coating, or painting
  • car detailing, before applying wax, sealants, or ceramic coatings
  • removal of polish residues, oils, and fingerprints
  • 3D printing, especially for cleaning resin prints
  • nail salons, for cleaning tools and work surfaces
  • cleaning electronic components (where permitted by the manufacturer)
  • cleaning glass, metal, and selected plastic surfaces (after compatibility testing)
  • workshop, laboratory, and technical use
  • cleaning tools, small parts, and equipment
Use as is or diluted

IPA can be used as is or diluted with water, depending on the application.

Used as is, it provides faster evaporation, stronger cleaning action, and minimal residue.

Diluted, it offers a more controlled cleaning process and longer contact time, which can be useful for sensitive surfaces or applications such as car detailing. The most common dilution is 70% IPA -30% water.

Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before use on sensitive materials.

Use in car detailing
  • In car detailing, IPA is commonly used to prepare surfaces before applying protective products. It helps remove oils, polishing residues, fingerprints, and light contaminants. It is used before and after polishing.

Using IPA before wax, sealants, or ceramic coatings helps ensure a cleaner surface and better application results. In many cases, diluted IPA is preferred for more controlled performance.

Use in 3D printing
  • In 3D printing, IPA is widely used to clean resin prints after printing. It helps remove uncured resin from the surface before final curing.

Proper ventilation, protective gloves, and safe handling are required, especially when dealing with used IPA that may contain resin residues.

Use in nail salons

In nail salons, IPA is used for cleaning work surfaces, tools, and light residues from nail care processes. It evaporates quickly and does not leave oily films, unlike some alcohol-based lotions that contain additives.

It should not be confused with acetone. Acetone is a stronger solvent used for removing materials, while IPA is more suitable for cleaning, degreasing, and light residue removal.

IPA vs alcohol lotion vs ethanol

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)
IPA is a fast-evaporating cleaner/solvent. It typically contains no additives such as glycerin or fragrance, so it leaves no greasy residue when properly evaporated. It is suitable for technical applications, detailing, electronics, 3D printing, and professional cleaning.

Alcohol lotion
Alcohol-based lotion is primarily intended for use on the skin. It often contains glycerin, fragrances, or other additives to make it feel gentler. These additives can leave residues on surfaces, which is not ideal when we want a clean, technical degreasing.

Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
Used in various applications depending on its type. It may be denatured or contain additives. It is not always the best choice for technical cleaning where fast evaporation and minimal residues are required. Plus, its cost is usually higher.

Why choose IPA

Isopropyl Alcohol is a practical choice when you need:

  • fast evaporation
  • residue-free cleaning
  • surface degreasing before applications
  • a cleaner technical solution compared to alcohol lotions
  • suitability across multiple industries and applications
  • flexibility to use as is or diluted
  • consistent performance in repeated professional use

Suitable for

  • car detailing
  • 3D printing
  • nail salons
  • electronics, where applicable
  • auto repair shops
  • laboratories
  • industries
  • tool cleaning
  • metal, glass, and selected plastic surfaces
  • technical cleaning prior to product application
How to use

Apply a small amount of IPA on a clean cloth, pad, or suitable application material and wipe the surface to be cleaned. Allow the surface to dry completely before proceeding with the next step.

For diluted use, mix with clean water depending on the application requirements.
