Thixotropic, pre-accelerated polyester resin for hand lay-up and spray-up applications

ZEUS PAINTS Liquid Polyester is a general-purpose orthophthalic, non-paraffin, thixotropic and pre-accelerated unsaturated polyester resin designed for fiberglass / FRP applications. It is suitable for hand lay-up and spray-up, offering good glass fiber wetting, easy processing, low volume shrinkage and medium reactivity, making it a practical solution for many composite fabrication and repair jobs.

Liquid polyester resin is used as the base resin in applications where fiberglass reinforcement is impregnated to form a composite structure. According to the technical data sheet, it is suitable for general FRP uses and can be used in areas such as automotive, boats and container production.

ZEUS PAINTS Liquid Polyester is suitable for fiberglass applications and can be used together with chopped strand mat for repair and composite fabrication work. ZEUS PAINTS also offers:

This allows customers to source a more complete lamination system from one supplier.

The resin is used with a suitable MEKP hardener, which is also available separately. Typical addition is in the 1–2% range, depending on ambient temperature, resin mass, laminate thickness and processing conditions.

Each MEKP-type hardener should be evaluated in the specific resin system before full-scale production use.

Packaging options are available for both smaller repair jobs and larger production-scale use.

Store at a dark and dry place, at 5°C to 20°C. Shelf life is reduced at higher temperatures. Styrene-containing unsaturated polyesters are significantly affected by light exposure, so they should be stored only in  100% light-tight containers.

This product is intended for professional or experienced use. It isflammable, containsstyrene, may cause irritation to eyes, skin and the respiratory tract, and requires good ventilation, suitable gloves, eye protection and careful handling away from ignition sources.

The compatible MEKP hardener is also a product requiring careful handling, as it is classified as an organic peroxide, may cause severe burns and serious eye damage, and must be stored cool in a well-ventilated area.
