General Characteristics

MEKP hardener for liquid resin is a hardener for polyester and gelcoat systems and is used for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins at ambient temperature. It is a basic complementary product for use with liquid polyester in repair applications, construction work, and composite material systems.

It is used in a wide range of applications such as hand lay-up, spray-up, RTM, continuous laminating, centrifugal casting, filament winding, and polyester concrete, making it useful in many fiberglass and polyester repair jobs.

MEKP hardener for liquid resin is suitable for applications such as:

  • polyester repairs
  • fiberglass work
  • applications with chopped strand mat / fiberglass reinforcement
  • technical and marine polyester applications

  • appearance: colourless, clear liquid
  • flash point: > 80°C
  • density at 20°C: 1.12 – 1.15 g/cm³
  • viscosity at 20°C: 9 – 15 mPa.s
  • critical temperature (SADT): 65°C
  • recommended storage temperature: up to 30°C
  • maintenance of activity at 30°C: 6 months from the date of delivery
Safety and handling

The product requires careful handling.

    • it may cause fire if heated
    • it is harmful if swallowed or inhaled
    • it causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage
    • it must be kept away from heat, sparks, flames, and combustible materials
    • it must be stored in a well-ventilated, cool place
    • the use of gloves, protective clothing, and eye/face protection is recommended
